i misshifted my eclipse at 110 into 2nd and the rpm's went well past 10k, didn't hurt a thing, i guess cause i caught it before it could go any higher

I missshifted my celica once. Did exacly what you describe 4th to 3rd instead of 5th. as soon as I let the clutch out the the tach shot way past red line(11000 RPM come to find out, hehe)and my oil pressure light came on. I was one the highway doing about 80 as soon as I got one the off ramp and stopped at the stop sign my car died and wouldn't start. The dealer replaced the engine under warranty. The oil pan pretty much exploded and I bent all my valves. The dealer said it would have been 6k if they hadn't given me the mercy killing. So if it is still running I say you're good

My 1970 Datsun 240z throttle got stuck in 2nd gear and wound out to 11,000 rpms. The harmonic balancer came off and slammed against the fender well. The cam shaft also broke into 3 pieces and a cam tower broke off.
But that was with a cam with over .500 of lift that made crazy power from 6500 - 9500 rpm. But that just left me with a reason to put an E31 head on an L28 block and make a more torquey streetable motor.
I've done the same thing in my mr2 twice. It just went into third instead of fifth. I know the feeling, you're like I did nothing different, what the heck caused this. Both times unknown for me.
The second time my flywheel bolts backed off and I just had to pull the tranny and tighten em. other than that it was fine. The first time it was ok. This was also on motors with over 80,000 miles on them.
As fresh and tight as a new Evo motor is, 9500 rpm is not too too horrible, or else you'd know by now. If the valves didn't slap a piston and start a nasty ruckus, you're fine.

You've set a record high for over redline. Hope nothing happens to your Evo. Some DUMBPHUCKS AT WALMART who gave me an oil change revved the car to 7660 RPMs...I was so pissed but I didnt do anything. Next time, I'll *****.

That's why stronger valve springs are needed at higher rpms, to keep the valves closed and away from the piston as quickly as possible at high piston speeds.
Also manufacturers have to take into account springs in production cars will be used a long time and lose some tension. Thus they bring the redline down some to accout for this. And since your car is new and the valve springs are still young, healthy and very strong, they probably kept the valves out fo the way. The older and more worn a motor gets, the more likely it is to fail at elevated rpms.
