Maybe in terms of reliability it will outshine what we have. Who knows. If we never try anything new we'll never know.

First of all, you used the word "underwhelmed" I'd never use that word. It's like using a double negative and I don't do that. I was mimicking your verbiage.

Second, I'm not trying to argue either but you posted a comparison between a turbo on pump gas and a turbo on race gas as your basis for argument in favor of the red. That's not a comparison. I like FP and I sell FP. This is why I'm confused by your blatant resistance to accept this as a good turbo.

E85 and Dynojets are not Dynapacks and 91 octane.

"not trying to argue" just trying to stay factual.

And if you're underwhelmed with 500+whp (DynoJet) out of a stock-framed turbo (EvoRed) then I really don't know what you're looking for.

Nils seems to like his EvoRed just fine, among others.

Not to mention the CBRD BBK just made 367whp on 91 on the GST Mustang Dyno (most Greens make around 330whp on that dyno). I guess that's underwhelming too?

I was trying to indicate the the initial Tomei numbers were rather pedestrian on 91 (with the DynPack results). I have no EvoRed Dyanpack numbers from the RRE dyno.

Then, to demonstrate the possibilities of the EvoRed I gave you an E85 tune since you stated the competition was "'underwhelming.'"

And please don't talk about double negatives here. I write conversationally. EvoM is the last place for you or anyone else to get pedantic regarding grammar.

Save that for more highbrow venues like EnglishTeacherSnobbery.com

I do agree, however, regarding testing and nothing ventured nothing gained.

Well the test in SoCal used a prototype that is smaller than the actual production unit according to the OP of that thread. My guess would be that they used a Evo 9 compressor housing instead of the 20g one. I think only a test can end this debate.

Exactly! I just said that I was looking forward to working with this turbo and out came the repudiators.

I hope that this turbo is good, that's all. It will be nice to have options. Especially since Tomei also has a new Subaru turbo which is even more exciting.

Not a bad looking unit at all. Can't wait to see more numbers associated with it.

Those numbers aren't too bad considering they are relatively low boost on 91.

I wanna see what it can do with 93 and some higher boost.

I also got wind of the true price and it is much lower than a red and a full BBK. If this is true for the money this thing may be worth the price.

I was wondering this myself, as the 1780 retail price is already pretty good if it can do what it claims to, and with vendors competing I'm sure the price will be very competitive to what fp offers.

Too much compressor cover bling.... looking forward to see if it really produces anything over current offerings.

Edit: Also looks like the power gains over a stock 9 turbo (above) were on higher boost 1.6 v 1.3

^ no, the graph that shows the 1.6 vs 1.3 bar are both runs on the standard evo 9 turbo.

It is there to show the extra heat generated by the added boost.

Either way, the tomei charts are nothing but marking tools. I would love to see some before and after dyno charts for this turbo vs any other turbo.

They (Tomei) are showing those numbers on an Engine Dyno, not to the wheels. The Socal.net numbers are at the wheels. So yes, marketing tools, but with time we'll see some actual numbers show up.

And I agree, price is going to make this turbo or not.
