kid thats a mean looking sti in the background of the s2k shot lol jp. itl be nice when the evo is on the road. nice write up. love all the pics, need my auto x/track partner ready for next season!

Man what causes that to happen? I heard several stories about guys motors going just cruisin on the highway?

Sucks about your motor but, i wouldnt be to mad seeing as your getting all these goodies.

Bummer about your engine, but your projects looks awesome!
I love reading threads like this. DIY engine build, quick spooling fun street and autoX machine, not going for massive numbers, and not done by a shop or even in a huge fancy garage, but a driveway in a cold climate. And you know the value of good handling over just power. I can completely relate to you.

Wish you good progress and keep us updated.

P.S: Is that an SR or KA in your garage? Hard to tell with the cloth on it.

hows she coming along ? Mine should be on the road this weekend hopefully. Im waiting on a cam sensor and hopefully that was the problem.

Any idea why the tensioner went bad ? Were you running stock valve train when all of the damage occurred ? Any idea what you oil pressure was like up until the point of failure ?

Nice build btw...

thanks.. i do not know what my oil pressure was at the time
my valve train was %100 stock, only mods were an intercooler and down pipe that came with the car.
and i have no idea why the tensioner **** the bed, the dealer had done a headgasket job for me maybe 7k prior to this happening and apparently they used all the original timing components if that had anything to do with it.?
