BSP AutoX IX build
Hello guys,
to the dismay of the fiance, I decided to pursue a full BSP build with my IX MR.
I'm aiming for the highest torque numbers possible while staying in the BSP ruleset. This is also my DD, so reliability is important (and subsequently the reason I have not gone to a mini battery). Also, weight is important to me.
For reference, here are the rules:
1. Can't do any head work (not sure on the extent of this, clarification anybody?)
2. Can only replace pistons with exact OE-spec pistons (but may be aftermarket)
3. No changes to the turbo or WG
4. Exhaust system free (including manifold, but must be quiet-ish)
5. Intake/IC/IC piping is free (including TB and manifold)
6. Boost and/or ECU mods are free
7. Water injection allowed
What would you do if you had $10,000? What if you had $2,000?
Mods are: TBE w/ ebay O2 housing and TP, HKS intake, AEM boost controller, Walbro 255lph, ebay LICP, self-tune using ECUflash, Exedy twin

First thing I would do is post in an EVO 1-9 forum.
How much experience do you have autoxing? If you haven't been autoxing for years I wouldn't worry about a "full" build. There is a ton of time to be made up by improving as a driver.

Whoops, my bad! Mod - please move this thread!
prostcj, I've been autoxing for about two years on and off - about 25 events. I totally agree with you, and I'm signed up for a spring Evolution driving school, but I've got some money to blow right now, and I figured I'd try to get the engine out of the way before tackling the suspension (plus I want to let ZZYZX catch up with production of the EM series coilovers)

Is ZZYZX coming back? The way I understood it, he was done.
I think that BSP thread has a lot of information on car setup and preferences. Please PM me on details about ZZYZX if you know something about a comeback. Thanks.

Mini-battery kit or trunk relocated stock battery, quality IC piping and FMIC, ported stock exhaust manifold, a professional dyno tune, coilovers, rear anti-sway bar, lightweight wheels, sticky R-compounds. Thats really all you're going to need in addition to your current mods to dominate BSP assuming you're a good driver. No reason to do anything with the engine internals and you aren't allowed to touch the cams or turbo. If you really want to get crazy you can get a rear strut bar and RS trunk bar too

$10K is going to be pushing it. Figure $3-4K for shocks, $500 for sway bars, $3000 for a wheel/tire package, $300 for all poly bushings, $250 for wheel spacers and extended wheel studs, $200 for a rear strut tower bar, $400 for a race gas map, $200 for a 4-pt harness . . . then after all that's done you can start to worry about adding power . . .

Evolutionary is on point. Chassis setup is the biggest thing for an autox car. $10k is a decent start. You also have differentials too. Then of course there is the whole sorting process, which never ends.
Good luck with your marriage.
