AEM UEGO Wideband Install

Can I replace the rear O2 sensor with my UEGO bosch sensor? I've heard people welding a bung to their downpipe what's the best route?

From what I've read it appears there's only one wire that gets connected to the ECU and the + & - wires go straight to the battery. l

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx

Most people weld the wideband bung about 16-18 inches from the turbo. i'll see if i can find the write up for the best route for the wiring.

this may not be the route you want to take but 19DB794 and I installed my Uego yesterday. He tapped my harness for the radio head unit for power. We ran the wiring from the down pipe right into a grommet behind the kick panel on the lower left hand side of the front passanger foot well. He also ran all the wiring for the guage behind the glove box and radio to my steering colum. I don't think you can use the rear o2 sensor location. It's in the cat for one and for two to far from the turbo.

I'm going to recomend you go into the how to section and check out the wideband install thread there. probably a lot more info for you

give your local exhaust shop a call. I have no idea what it costs. But it shouldn't be to much and they will probably remove it to make it easy. The Uego comes with a bung in the box btw.

I cant see how welding a bung should cost more than $20-30 considering as DocCola said, the Uego comes with a bung. You shouldnt have to remove the down pipe if you go to an exhaust shop. If you need a bung LMK and ill send you the one that came with my Uego since I have no need for it.

Wonder if my Invidia has a bung, never looked. thanks again guys for the info. btw i don't have a cat, thats why i was askin bout just usibg the rear O2 location. I'm assuming this would work but readings might be off. Does this UEGO have any sort of adjustment for calibration?

If you were planning on putting the Uego O2 sensor into the test pipe you could do that. Alot of people run their widebands that way but DocCola had a bung already welded to the downpipe so we used that. The only problem with running the wideband to the test pipe would be simulating the O2 reading so you don't get a check engine light all the time.
