Finished my IX install

Hey guys,

I just finished my IX turbo install and I have an exhaust leak. I'm also leaking a little bit of oil.

I searched the forums and read that someone actually welded the hotside to the manifold, or the o2 to the hotside because they knew they wouldn't be changing the turbo again.

I could easily do that, but should I just go and get a new gasket and try to close the leak up that way?

It would be kinda foolish to weld anything together what if the turbo fails or you want to upgrade???? just get the factory metal gasket use copper spray and torque everything down evenly,,,
Also when you take it apart check for any warping or uneven metal!!! have fun and do the evo community proud

Yeah, so I jacked my car up and found that my oil is coming from a bolt that I didn't tighten all the way on the return line.

The exhaust leak might be from the o2 to the downpipe in which I just need to tighten the bolts on that as well....hopefully....

hi i just had an oil leak myself and it took me forever to figure out what it was and it was actually one of the bolts that holds the o2 housing bracket to the motor so if you oil leak isnt solved check that for sure!! good luck

Weird, I don't think I have that bolt on my car still. I highly doubt it in fact. My car leaks no oil.
