Warmup Time

Well, since I've gotten my Evo, I've noticed that warm up times on this car are pretty quick. If I let it warm up for one minute and then start driving (in ~50-degree temps) after about 1 minute it's blowing warm air and in another minute the needle is in the middle of the gauge. Seems to warm very quickly. My previous vehicles were not quite as performance-oriented (Nissan Maxima and Ford Windstar) and took much longer to warm up. Just wondering, why does the Evo warm so quickly? Coolant capacity and engine size/weight seems to be about in line with the other cars.

I'm in 30-40 degree F weather most mornings and after the engine starts and ten seconds pass, I'm driving down the road. As soon as there is oil pressure, it's good to go.

I've noticed this, too - by far the fastest warm-up of any of my vehicles. It also happens to be the least fuel efficient of them, too. Hmm.....

My previous car (SRT-4) warmed up a lot quicker than the evo. For some reason I noticed that turbo cars warm up quicker than NA. But thats just my opinion.

You dont really need to warm the car up. Just give it a couple seconds 5-20 seconds and you can start driving non aggressively until the car completely warms up. Most of the damage is done during start up.

The manual for friends (98?) Audi even clearly states not to warm up the car, just start and go.
