No oil cooler here.

As said multiple times....why run the risk of killing your brand new motor because you reused your oil cooler.

Buy a new one or take it out completely.

Imho - as has been stated above more than once - DO NOT reuse an oil cooler. There is no way to completely clean debris out of one.

So if your compressorwheel failed you shouldn't use the intercooler anymore and replace it???

I wouldn't but that doesn't mean it is the same as reusing the oil cooler.

If you take it apart and clean the core and tanks, then it's probably OK to re-use it. We used to do that with all copper and all aluminum radiators years ago (rodding out the radiator). Not so popular with plastic-tank crimped radiators because they don't go back together so well.

Additionally the damage of small metal pieces getting into the oiling system is more serious than small aluminum filings getting into the intake track. Large chunks have a difficult time getting through the charge cooler cores.

It's probably cheaper to buy new than cut it open, clean and reweld. Certainly true for oil coolers.

Why? Water-based solvents are the norm in the auto industry these days (last 10 years too).

As long as it's dry, there won't be any problem. Put it in the oven at 250 F for twenty minutes. No water will be left.
