What to do with coolant

Well 30,000 is about a month away for me. I just saw that I need a coolant flush as well as a bunch of other things... I never did a coolany flush though and can't find a strait answer about what I can do with the coolant. Can I put this down the drain if I don't have a septic tank? If not I'll just pay to have it done I guess. I don't feel like hauling a ton of liquids everywhere and maybe spill inside.

If you can drain it and put it in an old coolant bottle most parts stores (ie Napa, Autozone etc) have a fluid disposal you can use. The risk of it spilling are still there, but you are careful you are a-ok. Just put it in a good container and in a bag or something to help protect it even more.

OK thanks, neededto know. Sites all over say yes and no. Some say it's ok if the drinking water is separate from the sewer system (which it is where I live). Some say it's ok no matter what as long as you don't have a septic tank because it kills the bacteria in there and other sites say it's illegal so I needed a definite answer.

Easiest way to do it is to just put it back into your empty coolant container and bring it back to auto stores. They usually dispose of them for free

Call a local radiator shop and ask what they do with coolant. Whether you can dump antifreeze into the sewer will depend on the sewer system and type of wastewater treatment plant in your community. The radiator shops in my town are required to dump waste antifreeze into the sanitary sewer.

When you refill mix antifreeze with distilled water. Keep doing that and you will never need a cooling system flush.
