Advice for 300whp daily driver?

I'm leaning towards #2 but I want some advice from you guys. Is there anything you would change or add to reach my goals? I'm sure doing the cams will net me gains under the curve which matter most to me.

I'd do #2 minus the injectors - you'll make your life more complicated with tuning having those injectors, unless you plan on running a BBK or FP turbo of some sort down the road.

I have the same setup otherwise, DD with power listed below - I'd only add an ETS I/C to that setup to increase efficiency and lower chance of knock as you start pushing more warm air (with higher boost). . .

Also I didn't say he would just hit 300whp with cams exhaust intake and a tune. So please don't just post comments that point out what other people say based on rhetoric and contribute nothing of use to the actual question or thread.

In any case I agree with the last 2 posts. it doesn't take much for you to make 300whp. but if you've got the budget go for your second setup it'll make more power.

A TBE, mbc, and tune will get you to around 300whp on 91oct if your tuner is any good.

You dont need injectors with the stock turbo unless your going to try and run e85 or something. Not to mention the IX cams are pretty decent and are well suited to the stock turbo. Before I put cams in I would save for a decent FP red setup.

y r u guys telling this fellow evo owner to go spend money if all he wants is 300whp?

a tuned evo9 with a MBC and a good tuner will get him 300whp. An updated intake will do it. If you want to make sure, just get an exhaust or downpipe.

300whp is pretty cake on the IX. This is what I'd do:

76mm Works DP
Drop-in air filter
Tune

That's it.... and it'll be just as quiet as stock so you don't attract any attention. If you want a bit more power, get a high flow cat, and it'll still be stock-like quiet. If you want a bit more power than that, get the Works Stealth muffler and you'll still look completely stock, and only be a hair louder than stock.

I remember I made 299whp/310wtq with just a MBC, test pipe and a tune all while still sounding like stock.

on my 9....
downpipe, exhaust both 3 inch, intake, licp, ets 3 inch IC, EBC and fuel pump.
I netted 318whp and 305wtq.

keep in mind....
stock cams, stock cat and stock 02 housing.

you'll reach 300 no problem...its all in the tuning.

Are you looking to have "space" or support later on? Or are you looking to spend as little as possible?

Money is no issue here, I just want to start off minimal and enjoy it step by step. I've had tons of fun when my IX was stock and it has been super reliable thus far. I still want it to be just as reliable but with a little extra power. I eventually want to run a 35R but thats years away, I just don't want to go from stock to a 500whp set up right away. I want to enjoy the evo stage by stage starting with the stock turbo and bolt ons.

+1 I agree about doing mods in moderation
Thats what I learned when I had my wrx, I started off small and went through all the stages and eventually ended up with a big turbo set up.

If you live if SoCal why would you risk running catless ala DC DP? Even with a HFC you should be able to hit 300 fairly easily, plus it'll be quieter.
