so i have a problem with my car.. this morning i was driving and it sputtered and then turned off.. now it wont start. when i tried again it cranked but no start then it backfired. im thinking that it is either the fuel pump or possibly the relay. has anyone ever had this problem? any help will be very much appreciated..

thanks in advance...

Only time I ever encountered this was when I had a problem with my crank sensor, but that tossed the SES light on real quick. I know it's a dumb question, but is the SES light on? If so what codes? Also might not be a bad idea just to do a quick visual on the timing belt just to be sure of all possibilities.

no ses light is on... scanned the computer and no codes either which i thought was odd cause my speed sensor light code was thrown for a while and now it not on... i will d to a visual check on the timing belt tho.... is it a common thing to have happen the timing belt jump... i was maybe doing 20 mph then stopped for a red light then began to accelerate again and thats when the problem started occuring

Not usually, but I tell everyone to check it just in the odd case something did happen with it (like shred apart or jump a tooth). Could also double check all your couplers/piping to make sure nothing popped apart, that's happened to me before and the car just dies right out. And also check your maf sensor while you're at it, make sure it's still attached properly and plugged in.

Check your "engine" fuse. I blew mine in traffic. Took off from a light, car sputtered and died. Wouldnt start. Found the fuse blown (under hood fuse panel) Changed it out and started right up. (My front 02 wire was pinched in the spark plug cover wearing through the insulation and causing the wire to ground out.)

Its a easy non time consuming check to rule out something so simple.

Have you actually checked anything? It would be helpful if you mentioned what's been done. I'm still thinking it's a post maf leak. No engine code right? Why would there be a "bad ground"?

i checked all the main fuses in the engine compartment... all of them have power and none are blown.... i didnt check a boost leak cause i havent beaten on the car and i was driving way too normal for a pipe to blow off... still gotta check to see if there is power to the fuel pump.... and they only thing i can think would cause a bad ground is if my friend who put my boost guage, aem wideband and turbo timer, but i highly doubt that too cause hes been working on cars since before i even knew him
