ACT clutch or tranny causing lock out????

I KNOW about high rpm lock out with the ACT. When I first got the clutch installed, I didn't have any lock out issues what so ever. Now about 6 months later, the car locks out in every gear everytime I shift over 7-7500 rpm and especially 8k rpm.

Is it my tranny going or my clutch locking out?? because its in everyyyy singggllleee geaarrr....

I have the ACT XDSS with clutchmasters flywheel.

Basically the only thing that can change over time with a clutch is that the surfaces can become warped from heat and abuse (like brake rotors do) and when that happens, it takes more travel to completely release the pressure plate from the disc. This is why typically customers report having issues with lockout after a trip to the track or a hard launch, etc. At the same time, at higher rpms the clearance needed to completely release the disc also increases either due to windage, or crankshaft flex, etc. What contributes to this is the restrictor in the hydraulics which causes more slippage during a launch than intended. If you raise the engagement point by adjusting the rod at the clutch master cylinder the lockout usually goes away. Another problem that we have seen is that customers go without having the clutch properly adjusted for many miles and it isn't until they experience bigger lockout problems that they address it. At that point the syncros in the transmission already be worn out. If you have any questions, feel free to send a PM.

Welcome to the ACT club. Many of us have had the same problem. I ended up taking it out with about 3k miles but unfortunately not before it gave me a fifth gear grind. Ended up replacing the syncros and getting an Exedy twin HD and guess what no more problems.

well i just adjusted it and it seemed to work a lot better.

ACTman- Ya i do abuse the clutch and it does only have a couple thousand miles on it. So adjusting it did make a difference.

I love the ACT, but after my 13.0 @ 110 i wanted to chuck the car into a lake hahaha
