MAF honeycomb starting to crumble? :unamused:

well i was working on my car and I removed the filter and I saw this

the camera has a hard time focusing on the honeycomb but it looks like its started compressing. It almost looks like something hit it but the car has never been run without the filter and it was perfect the last time I looked at it when i was completing the build.

im looking for advice on what to do.

I know mellon completely removed the honeycomb and says that it still idles fine, has anyone else done this?

Remove it now before it gets stucked in! Worst case is that you will need another tune. The tube after the MAF after the affects the MAF reading more than the honeycomb.

A lot of DSM's run fine without the screen, but if you want to reinforce it, just use some epoxy along the edges to keep it in place.

try this mod if you intend on keeping the maf screen. Worked well for him, he's making over 500whp on a mustang dyno and no problems so far.

Happened to me a couple of years ago after 35R installed-found it starting to twist but caught it before anything broke loose. Dealer actually replaced the MAF free and the new one has held up, and inspect it regularly. Plan to epoxy it.

When this happens, its time to get a new one and epoxy it!
