downshifting during clutch break in?
Would it be a bad idea to downshift during a clutch break in period? I'm not talking anything crazy like high rpm dumps or anything. Just your average low rpm, slowing down, rev matching type downshifting.
(This in reference to an exedy twin disc)

You shouldn't be engine braking... always rev match. If you don't know what that means look it up on youtube. Heal-toe techniques.
I always have the ball of my foot on the brake and right side of my foot on my gas pedal. I always rev match when braking. Keeps the tranny / clutch / transfer case very happy.

You won't get very far by leaving it in top gear all the time
Seriously, a few hundred miles of "normal" steady driving is how you break in a clutch. What you have described would be considered "normal" driving.

When I broke mine in, I was really careful for the first 500 miles (maybe excessive). (btw I wasn't trying to be rude, just trying to educate).
But yah, I would just take it easy for the first 200 miles. No sense in shortening the life of your clutch and bluestreeking your flywheel because you couldn't wait a few hours of driving. All that work down the tubes would suck

I fully intend to drive nice and easy for the break in period. I just remember reading another thread where someone posted not to downshift when breaking in the clutch. I don't see why it would hurt anything but I wanted see what the majority opinion was.
I guess I'll just drive the car like I normally do (when I'm not beating on it)
