High octane Fuel?

Hello everyone i was just wondering if anyone has put any 103 octane in there evo and if they have how did it run once you did..im asking because my brother had to tow an 08 STi the other day because the guy put 103 octane in his car and it wouldnt even turn over like it was a sensor or something.they guy ended up taking it to the dealer and had the fuel tank dropped. So im a little hesitant about putting higher octane gas in my 06 evo. thanks for any replies

It depends on what kind of gas they used. All 103 rated octane is not the same. If the race gas contained lead in it (as most race gas does) it could kill the the oxygen sensor. If the oxygen sensor is malfunctioned, the car could experience some drivability problems. Most of the time however (at least in the case of Evo's) the 4G63T engines run very well on this type of gas.

It will have issues, just get a higher octane unleaded gas. Leaded fuel will kill an o2 sensor.

Leaded gas will kill an o2 sensor yes, but not the first time you use it... More likely to just cut the sensor life down alot, so if you don't use it often, you're fine... (this is all evo related, I can't speak for the subie)

Yes, you can run 100 oct on a car untuned for it. It will run exactly the same as 93 octane. You will not be getting the most out of the fuel, but it will be fine.

i would think the only reason for putting more octane in your car then its tuned for, would be to turn the boost up. that would be the only benifit, and that would'nt be optimum without a tune for it. speaking for evos, and i would for sure be logging it
