Spun Rod Bearing

Hey my car was sitting at idle today and the oil light was flickering on/off but it goes away at 1200 rpm, and while driving.

Also their is a slight ticking sound but was told this could be caused from the 272's in the car and the cold weather maybe.

After doing some searches and stuff i am getting really worried that i may have a spun rod bearing, some of the videos i have heard online of cars with spun bearings sounds nothing like mine but then again you never know and i would rather be safe then sorry.

Any input on what kind of sound a spun bearing makes exactly?

I am also wondering if maybe my lifters need to be bled?

Any help would be great!

Yah i listened to some 4g63 motors with spun rod bearing and my car is nothing like that.

Usually only ticks when its cold outside, and then will go away after a little bit of driving. I just checked the oil and the oil is filled and the light stopped flickering and it was only when it was idling for a couple of minutes but has seemed to stop.

Also even if the car is warm it will tick a little bit if i turn it off and then get back into and then stop ticking again.

Listen for knock or rattle on engine decel. In other words rev the motor and listen as the rpms go down. Your more likely to hear it when the engine is cold. You can possibly isolate the rod in question by removing spark plugs till you find the cylinder making the noise.

This one is clearly a rod knocking

If you do a search you will find some people had failures with their oil senders which caused the light to flicker at idle and occasionally while driving. I had mine fail at 50k. Check your dipstick for your oil level. If it is where it needs to be, then your sender may be flaking out. I would check this before you jump to conclusions...

That is a bad idea. One should never use anything less than the factory specified viscosity.

With any luck, the ticking is just a noisy lifter, and the oil pressure sending unit is faulty. If you replace the sending unit and the same situation is apparent, it's time to get some money saved, because you're likely on borrowed time.

What does the rattle sounds like on decel?

This happened to me. Changed the sender and never looked back. I would try this FIRST.
