The 850R from what I have seen is a great combination, but yes, mike from AWD is right, no way you are making 700+ on pump gas. Well, maybe but it's not going to last very long

There is a guy here named Sharkbite that has a 2.3 with a 850R turbo on I will have to find his thread.

Somthing to look into and Im not sure what you already have on your car but did you see the gains that AMS made with their CNC'd head? What type of Intake Manifold do you run?

So you don't think 700 hp is possible on 93 even with Alcohol injection? Which Turbo would you experienced guys recommend for good street driveability and low numbers at the track?

I'd just like to see 800+hp but I don't want to blow up my motor. I've already blew one and evidentally my rings are bad now in my 2.3 race motor. So their also being replaced during this upgrade. As far as parts I currenty have installed the list is at the beginning of this post. The intake mainfold is an AMS VSR.

I want a bullet proof motor that can handle me getting on it once inawhile, and a few times a month at the track.

I'm not 100% sure which head Atlantic MotorSports is putting on my car. They are crunching the numbers, building it and all of the tuning.

sure with alcohol injection i am sure 700+ could happen. No motor is bulletproof.. Some are better than others..

Here is Sharkbite's thread with his dyno graph. I don't know how much more boost the 850R is capable of, Im sure you could squeeze a few more lbs out of it.

Mike I'm currently running the SMC alcohol injection kit. I have a 5 gal fuel cell, for street use. But yeah I'm not too sure if I want to push it. I need to be a bit more conservative I hate breaking stuff!!

I just wish there was more info on the 850R everywhere I look I see different results nothing is very consistant.

Actually I'm most likely selling my AMS VSR, and upgrading to the dual fuel rail AMS VSR. I don't want the finiky 1600cc injectors I've been reading about.

You are gonna need bigger injectors than 1200s if you are going to make 800 or so

If you stay with the 850r idea, plan to run close to 50lbs or whatever it will make to come close to 800 or so. Like Mike said, you are better off with the 6262 or the new 6765 coming out.

if you want the best info you can on the 850R, Call AMS and speak with Eric/Tim/Martin/

They will be able to give you any details you want. I have seen nothing but good things so far with the turbo, I know sharkbite loves it!

To bad the AMS 2.3RR is not in your future, that is a crazy motor!!!

730 horsepower at 42lbs of boost is pretty strong I think.... He also did not have the AMS CNC Race head, the AMS f1 Intake Manifold..... which would make some power as well.

Good Luck with everything

The two turbos you should look into is the FP HTA 86 which is what Dave Buschur and Mellon are currently using. They are making 700+ to the wheels on race gas. The other new turbo is not out yet. AMS I believe (not positive) are the only ones who have it. It's made by Precision called the PTE billet 67 turbo. This might be the same turbo as AWD was using. CALL AMS for all the money you spent they might give you some insider information about when it's available. It's making over 800whp on race gas. Also you should get your head cnc machined by AMS. It has proven to make a lot more power over there original head. Good Luck.

Trust me, if you want to make more than 800whp you will need to move up to something like the Precision 67mm billet or a 42R(or something similar sized). The 42R is more extreme, but you will be covered if you want to make 900+whp.

for what you are looking for, i really think the twinscroll 4088R would be your best choice. everyone you talk to is going to tell you something different and virtually none of them have tried all the different setups. The single best thing you can do is hang on to your money, do some research and make the right choice the first time
