Gates Racing Timing belts

I just put on a GR timing belt and have this really odd whine. When you tap the gas pedal it sounds like somone giggling or some kind of Star Wars creature cooing. Anyone else notice this with the Gates Racing belts?

Mine did that too. I'm not sure what it is, but my mechnaic said they just needed to settle and strech. I have had them done for about 10,000 miles now and it has went away..I did replace the tensioner while I was in there, but no pullies, probably have to go back some day for those..

When I did my Gates belt it whined a bit at first too, but after a few thousand it quieted down and sounds normal again.

if it whines, it's on too tight. If it doesn't go away, it's on WAY too tight.

The whine could be from the way the teeth are cut.

Ever see a gear drive for a small block Chevy motor? I am fishing here as that is what came to mind because I used to have one in an older G body and it whined. Some of them are even made to whine loud.

Also, the only way to put a t-belt on to tight is to have the tensioner all the way compressed, otherwise it is supposed to be equal pressure coming out of the tensioer range of travel.

Longer? No.

Timing belts are pretty quiet in operation and generaly don't make noise. Regardless of who makes the one you use. Make sure it's coming from the timing belt area. More detail into what else you did at the time of service would help. Did you do the tensioner and idler pullies, and the hydraulic tensioner? The balance shaft belt as well? Who performed the work?
