GT TURBINE HOUSING FOR 35r

Hello folks,

I have been using a 0.63 A/r ( T31 4 BOLT) turbine housing on my evo for well over a couple of years. I recently bought a GT turbine housing ( 4 bolt) ( 450 bucks) which is a 0.82 a/r. I understand that spool time will be increased, but the exhaust back pressure will be reduced , which could potentially yield more power.

My question to the community is ... why is it that most manufacturers of turbo kits... choose NOT to use the GT turbine housing from garrett? Is it purely an issue of down pipe fitment, or do these housings not make power ?

The only thread that remotely talked about this housing was dave buschurs test of the foward facing kit that he now sells.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Most companies figure that the trade off in spool up isn't worth the larger turbine housing (at least from what I was told).

I have a .82 on my evo and wouldn't think of going to a .63, but then again I have my motor stroked

The "GT" housing is more expensive than the T31 housing and has a longer discharge that is more difficult to package.

Anybody else want to chime in ?

Is there anyone out there that has switched from the standard T31 housng to the new GT housing ? If there is , what were the differences that you noticed.

it's because of the fittament....buschur now has a GT housing that mimics a T31 fit though.

Expense, fitment are the two reasons for not using it. The housing is superior to every other T31 style housing we tested it against.

As Tialsport said, we have the GT housings here instock with a 3" band outlet that mimics the T31 fitment. It's good stuff.

You can buy the GT turbine housing which is a 4 bolt, from any major Turbo accesories store, I.e ATPTURBO, HORSEPOWERFREAKS etc, they normally run around 450 bucks.

However if you want the GT turbine housing, that is as closely matched to the standard T31 housing, contact Dave, because he has some of the housings machined specifically for V band fitment as has been stated in this thread before.
