Even if the project is on hold it would be nice to at least hear from someone at TRE, it's been quite a while. No harm in just dropping in to give us a quick update the way I see it.

From what I was told this has been put into the trash. The gears didn't make that much more of a difference and this upgrade was going to cost something like 10 grand to do. Which to me is a super-unrealistic price any way.

That's rather upsetting. I guess I'll be going to a Shepherd 5 Speed after all. It's a shame, he could have at least told us the project was determined to be a dead end

Thats almost as much as the straight cut gears from PPGearbox in Austrailia

Its sad that no one wants to figure out a way to maybe take some of the size off the first three gears and beef up the last three (at least 4 & 5). Then I might actually consider keeping the 6sp instead of aiming for a Shep 5sp.

The fact is that even if it could be made, it would be more money then a Shep 5spd. This being because the gears would have to be custom, the tooling cost's ...etc. I had to give up on this along time ago, i'm going with a Shep built 5 spd. I suggest you gents do the same.

IF this is true, that's a whole lot of bad information being passed along...The "quote" from Jon at TRE was about $1500 for the upgrade...the "quote" from Jon was that he had been developing this for 2 years. Than again, Jon has never ever come on here and stated anything directly...

Now, if you're saying the tooling costs were going to be $10,000 that's one thing. It doesn't make sense for a mediocre upgrade to cost so much, so I am going to chalk this up as hearsay for the moment.

I may just put a call into Jon myself to see if I can get some direct answers.

That would be greatly appreciated, I think it's pretty obvious that there's a decent amount of MR owners willing to give this project a shot if we could get some concrete information to mull over. While I can't speak for anybody else other than myself, I do feel that it's a bit unfair to the people who've had faith in this for awhile and whose questions have gone unanswered for quite some time now. It would be so easy to solve our transmission woes by going to any of the reputable shops or vendors who offer built 5 speeds, but I personally have been very much looking forward to keeping the reason I bought the MR in the first place. Thanks in advance for any insight you can give.

So what happened ? Does anyone know for sure, that this product has been made ? Is it going through r & d testing, or is it all rumors ?

Call Shep Trans and see what they have to say about the 6 Speed Now

3rd ,4th and 5th gear upgrade

Next to the stock weak 4th gear that the 6 sp loves to eat.
