4G64 Long Rod 2.2L Build
#50
This is what Simon Norris told me:
And I said I run the HKS gasket. But I am stock bore.
Only problem with the HKS gasket is that it costs $250. But my tuner Mark uses them on his 4G63 builds too so they must be good.
We use the HKS head gasket with success, the Cometic and other gaskets are very poor. The 86mm HKS gasket actually has an internal diameter of more like 86.7mm so works fine on the 4G64.

Well I hate to go against my tuner But he must not have measured it right Anyway I'm sure Mark will come back on and we'll get to the bottom of this eventually.
I didn't build my engine, but I can confirm I did have to pull the head because of a leaking valve guide, and I did use an HKS 86mm gasket when I put the head back on, and I do use a 4G64 dohc timing belt, and do run a modified water pump etc so I'm pretty damn sure I'm on a 4G64 lol and 100% sure the HKS gasket I got was a off the shelf 86mm item.
So very strange.

I got the gasket kit today so now I can take the block to the machine shop tomorrow. I needed the head gasket so that I can figure out what ports on the block need to be blocked off. The first picture shows the 4 ports that need to be closed up. The second picture shows where the oil squirters are supposed to go.

just checked out your build. looks like your doing the opposite of what im doing right now. im mating an EVO head to my 4G64 block on my galant and running an OEM EVO turbo setup
