i can guarantee you that its the fuel pump because:

1) i know what the fuel pump whine sounds like
2) i can hear it at idle when im parked (that would negate the tires, or any drivetrain noise)

i just dont know if the stock one makes audible noise or not, but if walbro is engraved on it, ill probably just take a look at it

thanks for the help

I swear we did the same exact check on my friends IX last night. His car runs strong for the mods he has done and we wanted to see if it had a pump. Removal and install literally took 20 minutes. The Walbro will have Walbro engraved on it and a serial number. The stock IX pump is completely silver with no engravings on it what so ever. VIII pumps are black I believe. Unfortunately the car didn't have a Walbro

i know of a couple of people who've had one on their evo and i had one on my turbo integra and it whines pretty hard... u should be able to tell something there is using more current... if u can hear it inside the cab i would def say its a walbro... but wut the heck, its not gonna hurt to look if its only a 20min job... good luck and hope for the best...!

take the back seat out and then turn your car on, you will for sure hear it then.

warlboro pumps are pretty loud. your can deffinetly hear them outside of the car and somewhat inside the car. Idk if this is true but i no warlboro makes a high pressure 255 pump now that supossivly flows a lil more then the standard 255 pump and is a lil louder too...maybe you have that.

i only hear mine at idle sometimes. I guess my exhaust drones out the sound most of the time from inside or outside the car.

in my searching, all ive seen people say is "if it whines, its the walbro" but that doesnt fully clear it up for me seeing as my old car had a slight whine to the pump and it was completely stock.

so is the stock evo fuel pump COMPLETELY quiet? if it isnt, and i decide to take out the fuel pump to check it out, will the walbro have any markings or serial or model numbers on it?

thanks
the walbro pump doesnt make any sounds with a wideband you could
see if the air/fuel mix its richer than usual.
