Very Strange Idle

Okay so I know it's not the idle air control servo because it's new. The fuel pump whines alot, and I think it's a fuel pump. I will be stationary at idle in neutral and sometimes after I drive the car hard the boost (which is usually negative 16psi at idle) jumps up to negative 8-10 psi and it causes the throttle response to be horribly slow (just when revving from idle) and it causes the car to want to die and sound like it has really aggressive cams instaled or something. I think it's the fuel pump because it whines, but its a Walbro 255 so that don't make sense. Only got like 20,000 miles on it.

Are you saying this problem comes and goes? If you're saying this happened once, I'd check for a boost leak in the charge pipes, or a vaccum leak around the intake manifold. Maybe a vaccum hose blew off? I had that issue once. I blew the PCV hose off once because I forgot to clamp it on. It blew off causing the car to idle rough. Oddly enough, it still built enough boost to drive normally.

yeah it comes and goes. sometimes he idle will be perfectly fine and the boost is perfect. regular/perfect negative boost at idle is -16 psi at 900rpm. thats what it runs 90% of the time. then sometimes it will jump up to -8 psi and mess the car up. throttle response will be almost non-existent and it idles like crap at 500rpm. just fixed a boost leak on the bov and that seemed to help but its still happening. very annoying. and the walbro whines alot some days and some days its real quiet. also getting a funny smell sometimes

i did throw a code. faulty catlyst. but that was because i had a boost leak. boost leak was fixed and code went away. but even with the leak fixed, the car still does this. tends to do it when its hot out also, rather than when its cold.

yeah it very well could be a leak in my case...but the weird thing is, that the car hasn't acted weird in the past week or so, but I know it's not a tune issue

I had some funny issues similar to what was described above, I got a can of MAF cleaner and completely cleaned my MAF sensor and all is well since.
