Knock are really no good period. Most knock comes from the block, either the rods have too much play and the pistons. Hope for you it's not your block because blocks to be rebuild cost more than you pay for that swap with labor.

I used to live in Newport News, if it was mine I would take it up to Nick at DTM and let him fix it. He is in Chantilly, VA, a couple of hours from you but well worth the trip. His number is 703-327-7047. There are few people that know those cars and engines as well as he does that are located in that area. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

May want to check one other thing, I assume the engine is good-- the fly wheel bolts. when you pull that motor out--be sure the fly wheel bolts are tight. I had that happen once and the motor sounded exactly like a rod knock-- fly wheel was loose.

To make myself clear, you bought a car had a blown motor, put in a complete new motor and it blew? Assuming your car is stock or minor bolt ons, not sure what was done before that had blown the original motor, I would check the tune to see if thats what cause the original issue and if so to flash the car to a stock rom along with your immobilizer
