I'm on my 2nd Walbro 255HP already in my IX. My first one didn't last even a year before it got insanely loud.

Making some phone calls tomorrow. Thanks! Would this be the cause of the random extreme lean under ANY boost? The car is slower all of a sudden. Im going to stay out of the boost until i put in the new pump.

I also went on a long trip and noticed my AFR's were running into the high 16 under boost!!

so it started all off a sudden and it used to whine but it has gone stupid loud, almost sounds like i got an Bosch 044..LOL!!

Started out at afr going into the 14 and later went super lean that the car lost power..16
Hope I didnt hurt it to much!!
So i am gonna change out the pump tom..

STOOPID WALBRO!!
unless it something else..

mine just started doing the loud whine today.. i just got it last summer.. and my tank is full.. but i been driving all doing random erins.. and it was 90 out.. so maibe it was the heat,, i gota try and do a quick pull on 3rd to see wat my wideband does.. but hopefully its nothing i dont mined the whine i think its cool lol.. but wana be save rather spend the 80 or 90 for one than having sumthing worse.. plus it only takes like 10 min. to chahnge..

what's with all the revives?

walbros have a high and low setting, like someone else said - gets crazy loud after you run the car hard. mine did the same thing.. was screaming after a day of driving the car hard, and then whines like normal the next day and all days after

back from the dead...

my fp used to whine loud ever since ive had it, then about 8 months later, today,it whines but very low and even disappears sometimes. and the weather is getting really hot here 90+ but after reading this thread it seems like my pump should be getting louder. Seems to be doing the opposite. Hope this doesnt mean anything bad. My mpgs havent changed but i havent gone wot in about 3 weeks because I havent been tuned yet for my cams, but am getting tuned soon which is why I'm scared my fp might be bad

I'll throw in my 2 cents as well. A few weeks ago my fuel pump got insanely loud as well. I also noticed that my AFR's were getting lean under boost. I swapped it out and my afr's were rock steady and I can't even hear my new one.

Mine also make the loud sounds after some abuse in track, i buy it almost 3 years ago and i'm runing 880cc injector, no lean afr yet though. I'm considering a bosch in a near future.

I heard my Wallbro get super loud yesterday for a little while too. It was sitting right around 100°F ambient temp though. So no doubt it was super hot outside. Short commute back from work and I dont think I really hit much boost on the way back either. Didnt do it when I got back in the car an hour later. Must be the weather... If I hear it again or more often maybe Ill just swap it out. its got to have about 35k on it now...

Might as well join the club last week installed wideband and gettin 12+ Afr up top on pump gas and pegged on lean on idle. I was gettin 100% Injector Duty cycle on 780cc with a 16g 20psi Dsm! I just rewired it today and now got even louder. After reading all these reviews about the heat which was 95 degrees all week and I was close to the E so I dont know if that effected the pump but I believe its done. I have a Walbro 255hp only 3k Miles..
