Yeah I had a friend of mine look at the car for me last night and we are pretty sure that its the BOV thats leaking the boost. So I'm going to change it out for another one this weekend to see what it does. I'll let you guys know what happens!

Hey, I heard back from Mitsu. dealership working to find out why I was not boosting properly. They said they did not find any leaks, and that how it limits me with only half boost during full throttle during the first couple minutes of driving is the ecu doing it's job and protecting the car? It makes sense, but do you other stock EVO drivers have this also. Where you cannot get full boost until the car has been driven to be warmed up, not just warmed up idling????

From what I can see with ECUFlash, the ECU limits the wastegate duty cycle until your coolant temp reaches 70 degrees C (158 degF)which will limit how much boost you can build. From the factory, it's 50% WGDC at 60 degC and 100% after 70 degC. I don't think this is the OP's issue though, since it's doesn't take too much driving around to get up to temp.

this is crazy but i am having the exact same problems. I installed a new AMS 35r turbo kit, cams, fuel pump, and injectors recently. But i am hoping that the problem he is having is the same for me. I build about 21 psi of boost and then it just starts cutting out. Almost like its getting to much fuel or something.

Well I just found out today that my exhaust manifold is leaking again! I'm going to have my stock header sent out for porting and then just use that instead of that crappy megan racing header!! And i've gotta replace my BOV this weekend to cause its leaking has well!

Did the sound at WOT...the sound of paper flaping go away after you fixed the exhaust leak. I have that same sound now I glad to hear I'm not crazy. I have been trying to describe it and that hits the nail on the head. I am having a hard time building full boost. I wonder if the stock dv finally gave up.

Well once I fixed the leak on my turbo inlet gasket, it stopped making that noise. However now it looks like I need new headers cause the ones on there now are kinda warped on one side and is creating back pressure and its pushing the manifold away from the block! Yet another exhaust leak to deal with.

I had a bolt back out where the exhaust mani meets the turbo. This caused the gasket to melt and flap. I purchased a new gasket and bolts and for now the car runs ok.

Well finally found out what was wrong with mine as well. It was the bov. It would start to leak at 10 psi so I ordered a new forge. Hopefully will get tomorrow. I will let you know if it fixes all my problems.

well it fixed my boost and idle problems. But is still breaking up real bad when I try to open her up. will probably send it in to my mechanic and see if he can figure it out.
