Damn this thread got big. I last remember reading somewhere back on page 12.
I dont have time to read thru every post in this thread, but I wanted to know is the cam breakages still limited to the Evo9 mivec version? Has there been any reports of the evo8s or the DSM kelford 272 cams breaking yet?
Thanks

It seems to be isolated to the Evo 9 MIVEC groove failure so yea.

Not that has come up in this thread.

Yeah I retract all my material design opinions.... its either 1 of two things:
1. No one that installs GSC, Kelford, or Cossi Cams knows how to install EVO9 cams...
2. There is a magic harmonic sledge hammer carrying gremlin that comes in at night, hides under your hood and when you least expect it BEATS THE CRAP out of your cam trashing your motor!!! Its favorite cams are the ones made by Kelford GSC and Cossi, I guess that core has something in it that attracts them....
You have to have a little fun now and then
Hopfully Danny's testing will tell the truth, and shead some light on whats going on.... Im going with there is a problem with a batch, either that or all of us need to go to class and learn how to install cams per GSC, Kelford, and Cossi's instruction for the 9 cams, or get some tips from John Bradley, since he has yet to have a cam break.......

This is certainly ridiculous, there is absolutely no way that just all of a sudden top shops and good mechanics forgot how to "correctly" install Evo IX cams. The cam manufacturers need to step up now to find the root cause of these failures, the casualties keep piling up and to some of our fellow Evo owners the repair costs are prohibitive; it is one thing to break parts when you are abusing your car, but it is a totally different thing to have a cam fail under normal operation.
