02 housings suck in cold weather

just to inform some of you that live up in the cold.

i installed a 02 helix housing wich i bought as part of the gruppes turboback combo.

this was done to 2 03 evo 8s

only difference was that one evo did not have the 02 helix housing installed and mine did.

the rest of the parts where installed ie helix test pipe downpipe and catback exhaust.

and i suffered all winter from overboosting where his had no such problems.

just wanted to inform those that dont know about this. regarding the aftermarket o2 housings.

im going back to my stockone now that i can get to wrenching without the snow freezing my *** to the ground

Correct me if I'm wrong but your over boosting because the wastegate side of the whole is too small or not a really good transition size.

Just take it off and port the hole out more.

With cold air being more dense, that is why the effect is more noticeable in winter.

I experienced a bit of overboost in the cold as well. My EBC would flip out and drop it to wastegate pressure. Adjustment of both the electronic boost controller and the ECU solved the problem. Now it holds good pressure and I never hit fuel cut or boost cut.

this is a typical issue with some o2 housing during cold weather. if you are saying you have a boost creep then you need to remove the o2 housing and make the merge hole bigger.

i have greddy EBC and use hi setting for summer and lo setting for winter...so boost maintain at a good 22-23psi solid!

Of course your supposed to adjust the boost if the weather gets colder, duh!
Now if the boost is creeping then the o2 housing should be in question....
