DD an Exedy HD twin..love it I offset the plates by one (ie if the first plate has its friction pad at 12:00 I have the second plate with the friction pad @ 12:30). Also added a 3rd wave spring.

Been DDing mine for 1K miles now. When it's new it will take a few days to get used to. Especially backing up a hill or on a steep incline from a stop. It will make some ungodly noises, but I ****ing love this thing.

You can take them off you stock/existing clutch. The exedy, like most, comes with 2 spring washers already on. They are supposed to keep the TOB pre-loaded in the retaining clip so it doesnt jerk on the clip real hard when you slam the clutch on/off during a hard shift (take a look at the clutch out of the car and take a look at the action of everything when you step on the pedal). Half of the time, 2 wont cut it, and the TOB will "bounce" and snap the retaining clip, so adding another spring or two, make the preload tighter (and more of a pita to un-clip during trans removal).

It seems to work pretty good, me personally, i have broke the clip 3 times, once with 2 springs, once with 3 spring and once with 4.. it took the longest/most abuse to break with the 4 springs in there, and to be honest, i kinda deserved it. Most twin disk people i know and just fine with 3-4 total springs.

FYI, my exedy twin HD has 26k on it, and I just dropped my trans last week to put my 2 new disks in (i figured it was time, and was trying to be preventative) I ended up sending the disks back. My clutch is still has approx. 40-50% left based on max and min. measurements. So im going to wait another 10k. The car does a even mix of city/highway/drag type driving. 390-400whp on 93, 450ish on race gas/e85 with stock 9 turbo. For my application I would buy this clutch again in a heartbeat. But people that dont know how to drive this clutch, burn them out real, real fast, like less then 10k miles.

I put 59k miles on my oem clutch. then AMS installed the Exedy twin HD... I have 107000 miles now and the clutch is being rebuilt as I speak by a new shop in Schaumburge, VS motorsport. seem to be a great group of guys there! Im trying them since AMS clutch installs went from $550. to $880!!! I was not going to pay them $330. more for the same install the did for $550. 2 years ago.... I was told by Exedy that 48000 miles on a Exedy twin is good.....
I was hoping for more miles on this clutch but I love my car and dont want to drive anything else everyday.

There are plenty of other shops in the Chicago area that can do it for much less.

Thanks for sharing.....so I'm going to be adding meth or race gas map this spring I hope to be somewhere in the 500-550 range. Do you think 4 clips and clutch fork stop is good insurance? I know people say when you remove the solenoid pill the clip is going to pop. So you can imagine I'm a bit worried about buying a 1600 clutch and then my TOB popping will just make me roid rage out

MAP (I believe ) and another vendor sell a clutch fork stop kit if you don't want to install the wave spring. From what I've been told the extra spring make it more difficult to release TOB later.

I have the Exedy Twin HD as well. It's not too bad even in traffic. It's the steep hills that really are a little sketchy. End up having to rev the **** out of it. The hill to my house is 45 degrees or greater with a stop sign at the top, so when there is someone else at the intersection I have to stop at the line properly. I almost had to boost the car to keep it from rolling backward.

I'm about to have the Exedy Twin HD installed in my car as well, along with a shep trans. So I need to use 1 or 2 of the springs off the stock clutch to help with the TOB or I can use a clutch fork stop? Or do I need to do both?
