Hey guys. I'm new to evom and currently am driving/racing an MSP which i've sold and have been wanting an evo 9 for over a year now and that's what I'm getting as soon as I find the right one. I'm just researching as much info as I can at this point and have done a bunch of reading before posting anything. Do the evo 9 trannies use a GL-4,75w-90 gear lube? Also it seems like from reading through this thread that most ppl that are DD/autox use a 10w-30 oil for the motor. Thanks and I know the search button is my friend I just wanted some personal feedback.

Jacks suggest the 6 speed oil for the 5 speed along or Redline MT90. I think the other tranny builders also suggest Redline.

In my engine Mobil1 has just barely delivered the best protection/wear for the main and rod bearings. This is compared to Pennzoil racing, Royal Purple, and Valvoline Racing. The Mobil1 is just slightly better, but enough to notice on teardowns. When I had some clearances a little too tight it was on a 1-track-outing inspection interval.

I have used the 5W-40 Ultra and it held up well in the tropics. Ultra is Ferrari factory fill. However, I wouldn't run 10W-60 unless doing strictly sustained highspeed driving in extremely hot weather or on a built stroker motor with relatively loose tolerances.
The heavier weight oils do absorb more heat though. So oil temps will tend to be lower. I found this true when I ran Mobil1 5W-50. What I don't like about the 5W-50's and the 10W-60's is the spread between the upper and lower vicosities which requires higher levels of stabilizing additives.
Also, the thicker stuff tends to be a bit more problematic on cold startups and with the lifters.
