HTA 3076 and stuff on my IX MR

Yeah, update soon....I plan to go with this setup myself....done HUGE amounts of research between this and the FP Red and decided on this but havn't purchased yet. The FP Red was my first decision, but the more I researched the more it made sense to just go with the HTA3076R. THe Red is proven, but is the same amount and if you wanna go bigger later you have to buy a completely new kit if you purchase the Red. If you go with the ETS kit, you can go bigger later with the swap of a turbo.
Just my 2 cents.

Yes, thats what I thought too.

I am still waiting for my kit to come but I have to do the cams/springs and studs first.

Just do them all at once, because than you just get a tune at the same time and dont waste any money my 2 cents Good news im goin in for my tune tomarrow morning YEAH!! I'l post them numbers when i get home

I used to be of the frame of mind that the only logical choice of turbo higher than the FP Red was the GT35r turbo. Well, I think I've been proven wrong and the 3076r still has its place in the community. I'm sitting here watching Spongebob Squarepants with the family and decided to do some more number crunching. I was interested in the average whp and wtq of three particular turbos at the same boost level to determine how they stack up on pump gas only. The turbos of choice are the FR Red, 3076r, and the HTA35r. Each of these turbos were on a Mustang dyno set at 30PSI respectively. I did the comparisons at 3K, 4K, 5K, 6K, and 7K and took the average for both whp and wtq. I did the BBK Full as well but it just didn't fair too well against the other three.

Turbo #1: FP Red / 30PSI / 440whp / 383wtq
3K - 100whp / 189wtq
4K - 250whp / 340wtq
5K - 360whp / 380wtq
6K - 435whp / 370wtq
7K - 430whp / 325wtq
Overall average: 315whp / 319wtq

Turbo #2: 3076r / 31PSI / 523whp / 462wtq (I don't have a chart with this turbo set at 30PSI)
3K - 60whp / 110wtq
4K - 160whp / 210wtq
5K - 410whp / 430wtq
6K - 500whp / 440wtq
7K - 520whp / 390wtq
Overall average: 330whp / 316wtq

Turbo #3: HTA35r / 29PSI / 532whp / 385wtq (I don't have a chart with this turbo set at 30PSI).
3K - 65whp / 115wtq
4K - 180whp / 240wtq
5K - 355whp / 370wtq
6K - 420whp / 360wtq
7K - 510whp / 375wtq
Overall average: 306whp / 292wtq

Findings:
FP Red - 315whp / 319wtq
3076r - 330whp / 316wtq
HTA35r - 306whp / 292wtq

I did the comparison at a max of 7K as most of us shift somewhere around 7.2K and I didn't think 8K was relevant. A few thoughts that came to mind is that the 3076r still has a place on the market although there are many that believe it doesn't have a place now that the FP Red is on the scene. I'm not surprised that the FP Red has a greater average torque since it is the only stock-framed turbo in the comparison. But again, the 3076r is not far behind hence its place still relevant on the market. I haven't ran across any charts of the 3076r on meth but for the HTA35r, the meth allows for quicker spool up in spite of increased boost levels resulting in more power and more torque. I'd safely assume that this would be the same for the 3076r. With all that said, I believe that either the 3076r (0.82 a/r) or the HTA35r (0.63 a/r) would be quite a street monster.

Seems somewhat low for an HTA. We tuned an ATP 3076R (so stock appearing Evo housing with a 52# wheel instead of the lighter and higher flowing 57# HTA) tonight that made 394/336 at 24.57psi. It is an VIII with a stock head and GSC S2s/springs and the rest of the normal mods.

118 People are close to getting Stock Turbo Pump gas, a 3076R pump gas should get you over 120 no problem.
So for a pump gas car, you don't believe there is any turbo worth buying between a stock IX and a Red?

I'd have to say that the 3076r certainly has its place on the market still. Take a look at these two charts and you can clearly see that the 3076r vs. FP Red on similar set ups at nearly the same boost levels the 3076r has a higher average whp than the FP Red. The FP Red does have a slightly higher average wtq but that is to be expected considering it is a stock-framed turbo. I posted an average whp/wtq comparison in this same thread that clearly lays out and shows the 3076r relevance in the EVO community. I'm not trying to get into a theological debate. I just simply follow the numbers to where they lead without any preconceived notions.

FP Red / 30PSI / Pump...

You can even give the FP Red a bump of 1PSI and still see how the 3076r still has its place. Like I said, I used to be on the same boat believing that the next logical step after the FP Red was the HTA35r but numbers are the most unbiased beings around.

^^Told you!! I know this turbo and what it can do. Why spend the money on an HTA30r when you can have a CBRD/Blouch turbo that will spool similar but make more hp. I guess you live and learn I know I did.

Well that was knock free on 92 octane on a DynoJet. To me the boost level is low, but then again I run 31psi on the daily. My point is that was on a lesser turbo with the right supporting mods, so an HTA with the right supporting mods should be able to do the same with less.

Some guys like me might want to go hta35r in the future. this is why i went hta3076 - i can change it like changing my underpants.
