Reports on the street/strip performance of the Carbonetics are good, but that isn't the problem. The biggest drawback to the Carbonetics clutch is the rebuild cost, which is about the same price as a new one. Unless you really want to fork over $2k+ install every time that one needs to be rebuilt, I'd stay away.

I believe there are several SPEC dealers around here. If you want to speak to a human on the telephone who is willing to give you his unbiased experiences with SPEC vs. QM, just give a call to Walker at mpfab.com (he had both on his car). He worked directly with SPEC on perfecting this clutch, so he can better tell you what went into it. I know that I went from a Tilton to the SPEC LT, and I should never had wasted my time and money with the Tilton.

I believe once CCI releases their twin there will be no doubt in my mind it will be one of the best.

Carbonetics went with making LSD's only. www.carbonlsd.com

I carry spec, qm, exedy. I don't really sell too many Spec twins, QM and Exedy have been the most popular. I have had both in my EVO in the past, the QM was a little noisey and took a day to get used to but that doesn't bother me.

If your at the point of power were you need a twin disk, your car is already making a slew of noises! haha.

Exedy Twin HD FTMFW!! I don't think I'll go with anything else. I DD the car and track it. I also drive like I stole the car sometimes....One of the best upgrades I've done to the car. Besides the Green and Stage 2 shep tranny, the Exedy Twin HD fits perfectly for those upgrades.

When I had my 35r powered talon, I had a quartermaster 7.25" twin disc installed. I daily drove it and it absolutely sucked @ss, but it held alot of power on the track (also very inexpensive). When I got my evo I installed an Exedy HD twin disc. I also daily drive it, and besides the clutch chatter, I can barely tell its a twin. It almost drives like stock. Very easy to launch (low 1.6 60ft easy). Cheap and reliable-Quartermaster. Reliable and easy to drive-Exedy.

Thank you TedB,
Your post was quite helpful. Subjective analysis is tough to sort through especially when people haven't experienced one or the other. Thanks again

For his power ratings, the Exedy Twin HD might be getting close to its limits of how much torque it can hold. Since he's gonna be running about 500whp/wtq, then at the crank it would be getting close to 600. The Exedy Twin is rated for about 560 lb/ft, so the triple may be needed. As for reliability, the Exedy's should be able to do 30,000+ easily.
