Getting ready to install Walbro 255

My question is, will I be ok to drive on a Walbro 255 for couple days without a tune? I only commute about 10 miles a day.

I'm getting ready for a tune on Thursday, and want to get a head start on installing couple things.

Thanks

i think you don't need a tune with a walbro...do a search. evo 9 fuel pump is also better than evo 8 so you might not need one depending on your mods / boost...

I think you still want a tune to take the most advantage of it, but I did a bunch of bolt-ons at once so needed a tune regardless. You definitely want to get a walbro if you plan to keep going with mods.

i ran my walbro for 6 months most of them hard with out a tune. only mods i had at the time was the exhaust and the fuel pump logged clean, rich but clean. The ecu is only going to pull as much fuel as it needs or what ever it is tuned to stock which is alot.

Cool, thanks everyone. The mods are pretty much all the bolt ons besides Cams and bigger turbo. Really hoping to hit 340whp, so I might as well put in the Walbro.

Also forgot to ask. I know not to do this on a full tank, but what is the max fuel I can have in the tank before doing this?

half a tank should be fine. if u have a full tank you will have to drain half anyway. trust me, i found this out the hard way. you should be fine without a tune as well, just going to run rich, but no damage. gl bro

LOL, I just finished the install. Took about 30 minutes. ^ same thing happened to me

So I just got to my office and noticed this on my desk

Ummmm.... was that suppose to go anywhere?

I reused the factory grommet and spacer since it looked so much better like Evomoto stated.

Just so everyone is clear on this, the factory fuel pressure regulator is what will control the amount of fuel, and at what pressure it is in the fuel rail. Installing a Walbro 255 will not affect the AFR's if nothing else is done. The FPR will allow the pressure to be the same before and after. Putting the 255 in is a precautionary step before asking the injectors to open more or longer (tune) in order to prevent a lack of fuel supply. As other mods are done then it becomes necessary to have a higher volume of fuel in order to maintain the same pressure at the rail. I put the Walbro in way before I needed it but was glad I did once I switched to FIC 850cc injectors.

Short answer: yes it is fine to drive if the only change was the Walbro.
