Single Scroll GT3076R vs HTA35R or FPRED... for stock motor, need input

Would a HTA35R have a better powerband for a stock EVO IX motor then a GT3076R?

Im completely up in the air about mysetup.

My goals are:
Better powerband
Better for Stock motor (most relialibe power on stock motor)

I figured the pricing if i want to switch for each setup. What do you guys think?

I currently have:

Full Race Single Scroll Manifold
Full Race 3" Downpipe (has testpipe built in)
Full Race Dumptube (open)
Tial 44mm Wastegate
Full Race Lower Intercooler pipe
Garrett GT3076R (.63 a/r Housing)


I figured I could sell $2500-2800

OPTION 1:
HTA35R or HTA3076R
Sell GT3076R for -$850-1000
Buy new turbo for $1700

COST: $800-1000

OPTION 2:
FPRED

Sell complete setup -$2500-2800
Have stock Manifold still
FPRED - $1700
Install Kit - $165
DC downpipe - $235
Invidia O2 housing - $235
PROFIT: +$165-465

Added option: full race pro stock manifold $950

Other parts on car:
Tial 50mm VTA bov
GM 3" MAF (blowthrough)
4" Intake pipe (have 3" also)
780cc Injectors
4" ETS intercooler

I know the HTA35r would yeild the most power, but would it spool quicker then my current setup? or is the HTA3076r even worth the cost for the upgrade??

Edit: I run the car on 93 pump gas only, and I never go above 22-23psi.

Why not just send your 3076R in for an HTA conversion?

We need more info. How much boost are you running now? How much power are you making? What power do you want to make? When is your turbo making full boost? Let's see some graphs of boost etc...

There's TONS of data and threads on this type of question, granted the search function totally sucks now though.

What's with the E85 avatar and 93 pump gas, E85 is where it's at yo...

I used to run e85 when I lived in houston.

I no longer have access to e85.

Currently:
Only running 93 octane
Power is around 365-385whp (datalab dyno)
Boost stays around 21-22psi
Full Boost comes on now around 4200-4300rpm

my current setup just simply might need cams/intake manifold

maybe some kelford cams and AMS intake manifold

Cams will make more power up top, they won't help spool... Do you feel the car fall on it's face at high RPM's? Typically cams precede a turbo upgrade.

The HTA 35R is only going to make more power and torque, could be slightly laggier. It won't make the powerband wider.

The HTA upgrade to the 3076 probably isn't worth it.

Talk to CBRD about the TAK 33R, see what he says about it's ability on pump gas.

^^^ You need to PM Chad "CBRD" and ask him directly, there's no published data that's easy to find. The turbo is custom built for your setup, spools like a HTA 3076 but makes more power!

If you only plan on running pump only I'd go with the HTA 35R with .63 hotside. If you plan on running E85 or meth injection you would be better off with the Red. The 30R is obsolete.

On a serious note, welcome to the drama. Over the past two weeks, I've gone back and forth about the FP Red and the HTA35r (notice no mention to the 3076r). I won't kill you with those details unless you are interested later.

All of my comments are based on the fact that you said pump/93 at 23PSI is what we are working with.

Question #1: Would a HTA35r have a better powerband for a stock EVO IX motor then a GT3076r?

My first question would be which turbine housing are you considering (0.63 or 0.82)? Secondly, I would check out a couple threads that have dyno graphs for both the HTA35r and the FP Red on pump gas at the PSI setting of your choice.

I'm just taking a swing at the question but I'd assume that the 76r would have a higher average whp rating than the HTA35r but the HTA35r would have more available power under the curve than the 76r. Why do I say that? We all know the 76r would spool quicker than the HTA35r at ~3.9-4.2K whereas the HTA35r around ~4.5K. I have a buddy that's reaching full boost (25PSI) at 4.8K making ~470whp. At 23PSI on pump, again I believe the 76r would be around the 420whp mark whereas the HTA35r somewhere around the 450whp mark. Again, I don't have any graphs in front of me but maybe you do so you can refine the numbers.

If your goals are a better power band on pump, the BBK Full has been making some very impressive numbers up to about 27-30PSI. There are several CBRD threads out there for you to skim through for comparison purposes.

Since you already have the 76r with the 0.63 turbine housing along with a pretty nice list of upgraded parts, why not add meth to the equation and lower the boost as that would also give you a better power band at a fraction of the cost of your listed options.

For your FP Red option, I think it would be hard to get your asking price (not to sound negative) as there are many that believe the FP Red is superior to any 30-series turbos on the market.

Now if you are totally against meth, then the HTA might be your best bet economically. The Kelford Type-C cams are pretty sweet. They might not help with spool so a nice set of HKS 272s or even a 264/272 set up might be the preferred route. I'd submit that the ported intake manifold is pretty stout for the money.

The TAK33r is a nice pump gas turbo a lot better than my old HTA30r. Spools faster and makes more power.
