major install done by ME!
to me a major install is something that costs over $500... i had purchased a headgasket, studs, cams, and valvetrain to throw into my car... was skeptical todo it myself since i wanted it done perfect the first time... i did everything except the valvetrain(dont need it yet with the stock turbo)
This was the funnest and easiest major install ever!(clutch was god awful!) removing the head was cake, just time consuming removing the wiring harness, fuel rail, and such...
i left intake and exhaust manifolds bolted on..
There is something all you beginners would miss, and that is THIS bracket
here is wat my pistons all looked like, do they look normal for 47K miles?
Also when i did my cams, my budy said i wouldnt have to bleed my lifters if as soon as i took the old cam out hurry up and throw the new one in... So i did that and NO cam tick watsoever!!! I had my car started and began tuning idle exactly 9 hours after i started.. We took an hour for lunch and this was my first time.. pretty good i'de say. so if u need this work done, JUST TRY IT!!! i saved ALOT of money
Thanx for reading

I think (if I remember right) you can see the bolt through one of spaces between the runners and I used 1/4" ratchet and several extensions and a swivel to get the thing out.
On the 8s my buddy and I can pull the head off in right at 32mins! Its not really a bad job to do at all... I too would much rather pull a head then do a clutch as well! Anyway CONGRATS on getting it done your self, its way more fun that way!

his is not a 9, but i will definately make a mental note of this! i do have plenty of 9 buddies. THANX! it would be as if u didnt know about the bracket back there
watch out if your buddies is a 9, there is a small 10mm bolt almost in the center of the head under the intake manifold that holds the mivic hard lines to the head. Its a PITA to get off, and if you dont know its there you will spend forever trying to figure out why the head moves but just wont come off
