CEL fix and STILL FAILED!

my engine light hasnt come on in a while, the check engine light is now off and I have no cat with the stock catback and 3 inch down pipe... I didnt put 2 foulers, just one due to clearance and the issue was resolved... but emissions still failed.

Any ideas? Do i need to wait even LONGER? 200 miles should do it eh?

EDIT: my father just reminded me the guy said "the cars computer wasnt ready"

he said the computer was sorting out information with emissions. Said it was reset to recently but I didnt touch the battery for a few days. I mean i threw the code today but then it went off and i think it was cause I didnt tighten the fouler down correctly.

Does that make any sense? I mean it doesn't really go well in my head but maybe I'm missing something here. But if my car can't figure this crap out in 200 miles of driving.. then wth..?

your obd system has monitors that measure your car's performance/emissions under different circumstances. If they have been cleared due to a dead or unhooked battery, they need to run through all of the cycles again before your car will pass emissions.

So basically you have to drive the car for a little bit before it will pass. If that doesnt work, then it may have something to do with the fouler.

I used to work at one of those places. like JESTER81783 said, you just have to drive it around so it can cycle through and regain the parameters from the other sensors. I've seen it take around 800 miles on other cars. Just dont downgrade the test to a tailpipe test. when you fail (for sure since theirs no cat) you have to retake the test only as a tailpipe test, you cannot do the obdII test again. At least thats how it is in Ohio.

what you need to do is buy an o2 simulator and wire it to your o2 sensor. I have passed 5 years straight no problems and no check engine light. It makes sure the voltage stays within an acceptable range.

I put the little fouler in and the code came back on the same day. I turned it off and it hasn't been on in 3 weeks. So far so good
