where are you getting these figures from? Have you fitted a boost guage?

14.5 (.99bar) is way low considering on what we have read off boost guages on JDM evo 7s straight from Japan. If your e7s peak @ 14.5pounds, there is no way in hell you are going to make 280ps!

It does sound strange....

Assuming now that the engine is similar and both USDM and HK
Evo7 have one cat....

HK Evo7 making 14.5 psi and 280+hp
USDM Evo8 making 18 psi avg and 271hp....

Ahhh... does HK Evo7 use a larger turbo??

Pull off your muffler then drive it again, if something stops that spring loaded door from opening It won't pull very well. If the evo had a pre-cat I would say pull your cat and check it for bits of the pre cat cloging it, but I don't think the evo has one. The pre cats used to come apart on 2nd gen rx-7's and get wedged into the main cat inlet blocking the flow real bad.

My car pulled like a bastard when I got it and after break-in, then one day out of nowhere it wasn't pulling the same. I can't here the turbo as much anymore, (no engine mods) and the car deosn't seem to spool up as quick or pull nearly as hard on boost. I don't have a boost guage yet, which I have to get, but I've check compression, which according to the service manual was great-165-170in all cylinders, and I checked and tightened all connections I could find, removed the intake box and removed the ziptie on the boost solenoid lines, and nothing has seemed to help so far. The dealer was not helpful, and the tech seemed to know less about the Evo than I did. He basically checked nothing, and told me to get a boost gauge and if boost is low to come back. ****in' stealerships. I'm waiting on a boost gauge, then I'll go from there. I'm in the same predicament, and I don't want to order my Buschur Stage 2 until the car is fixed and back to normal. This is not a situation of getting used to the power, it is now no faster than my old RSX Type S, which was pretty quick, but only mildly modded with only boltons and Hondata computer tuning. I may try to pull off the intake tubing and check out the turbo, but I'm not exactly sure what to look for that would indicate a shot turbo.

I talk to many different shops and that's what they told me: 1.0 bar/14.5psi. I have a boost gauge and it reads 14.5 also.

I just test drove the EVO VII GSR:
0 - 100Km/h @ 5.39sec
Petrol: Premium 97
Car weight: 1404Kg.
800m above sea level.

The car is totally standar and shares all the Japanesse GSR spec. toys including ACD + AYC.
Now i´ll try to get some dyno prints.

mmmmmm....., that 14.5 is not reflective of what a pure JDM VII from Japan should put out. CruftyDusty (lives in Singapore) confirmed that his VII jdm GSR was boosting 1.1- 1.2 bar stock. This is even more incentive for me to fit a boost guage on my jdm 7...

maybe the Hong Kong Evos are ecu limited?

I did bend the MAS, but only slightly, and for the most part, its straight now. Should that make a difference?

Would it be worth my while to purchase an entirely new one?

Try to straighten them out and then look through the thing while holding it about a foot and a half away from your eyes. You should be able to see through it with uniform distortion. If any of the areas look to be more distorted than others, expect silly MAS readings. I think a new one is like $300 or so.

There was a guy selling the honeycomb in bulk on there a while back. The 1G and 2G DSM's also used that stuff, and people used to always make their own our of this bulk stuff.
