Are you sure it's the 6 speed and not a clutch?

And any particular gear? If you destroyed 1-3 in the 6 speed, a 5 speed wouldn't have helped any as those gears in the 6 speed are wider than the 5.

I have a 2.3l with hta 86 and my 6 speed is still fine. I have seen people destroy built tran's ect with just 400whp. Most of the time its people that "think" they know how to drive .

Eric, Yes it was the 6speed. I sheared all the teeth off 3rd then 3rd took out 4th. It was so bad that the car in nuetral with the brakes off would not roll forward or backwards! It was a pain in the *** trying to transport it to English...

Well to be honest I believe that due to the cooling isuses of the 6speed it weakened the gears and I was in third at 4.5k and rolled into it and as soon as I hit 30+lbs the gear was toast. I think running a cooler on these would help and getting the gears and sliders hardened would too

nice, the JDMs actually come with a tranny temp sensor, i am only hoping it does not come on too late!

what is a good brand for a tranny cooler? any suggestions.

You will just have to look around. They are a bit $$$ and there has to be some modifications done but I feel that it would be a great fix for the 6speed... Eric deals with the 6speed a lot. Also I believe that TRE now makes straight cut gears. With straight cut geats and an oil cooler your 6speed should be close to bullet proof... IMO

Not on the Red but I was on my stock clutch til about 70k. I had over 80 official launches and was putting down a little over 300 TQ with a DynoFlush tune. Been bout 12k on 400 TQ, e85, and ACT clutch. Total mileage of 82k, stock fluid changes every 15k, unless I am lazy - 20-25k.

TRE supposedly makes some upgraded gears for the 6 speed. I got into an accident about a month ago, and my reverse is now FUBARed. I am pretty sure it was from the impact, as the 6 speed (and I think the 5) sits sideways on the car. The accident possibly messed up a slider.

I will keep people updated in my dealings with TRE.

Sorry to hear about your accident eric. You should get the gears and write a nice review

Please please do, it's been sanity straining trying to find concrete information on TRE's new gear set for the longest time. My 5-6 shift is difficult as hell, prob the fubar'd sliders from missing/jamming 5th. A write up would be sexy.

How much TQ are you putting down? 473 at the wheel
How often do you launch? Never.
How long have you been driving on that set up? I've had the Red on for about 7 months, but was only tuned on 91. I just switched to E85, and got tuned by MELLON (see mods in sig).
How well do you take care of the 6spd? Decently well --- I change the fluid every 10k miles or so. OEM all the way.

By the way, my Evo has 76 thousand miles on the stock 6-speed, and still going strong!
