Im not on a stock turbo, but that is neither here nor there.
Again. I didnt ask the opinions on this. I asked for whom is doing it and their experience so far.

Please read the entire first post before telling me your opinion on what I am asking.

The other half of the question is how much power is being lost because of the valvetrain deflection. Good luck getting an answer to that one.

I am not running aftermarket cams yet.

I will be running Kelford 272's w/ FP beehive springs. I bought my cams right around the "Kelford failing epidemic" and was in constant contact with Kelford about the proper valvetrain setup.

If you have any questions PM me

There was a thread a while back of someone using Cosworth springs with stock retainers and the retainers took a beating.

ive been on stock springs for maybe 4k miles... i've done maybe 10 runs at the strip bringin 4thth gear to 8k... i have a weird sound coming from under the valve cover... happens every now and then... i checked it and evrything looks fine.. i have the springs/retainer just waiting for an install date.. but i got a buddy running comp280's on stock valvetrain reving to 8k+ all day everyday for 2 years.. its a hit or mis thing...

My friend has Kelford 272's on the stock springs for nearly 20k miles and I've been on my FP4R's with stock springs for around 10k miles. I have my rev-limiter set at 7600 and he has his at 7800.

Aby has run both the S1's and the Kelford 272's. The 272's (and probably the GSC S2's) make a significant amount of midrange power over the less aggressive S1's. At some points on ABy's car (I think when he was running the Green) it was 40whp in difference.

If you go the higher lift cam, you should seriously consider upgrading the valvetrain. I think Aby opted for the relative bargin of a Supertech set-up.

another thread about stock springs....boring....the only reason you ask is because you want to run a big lift cam on stock springs....well if you want to run big daddy cams you need big daddy springs.

either way there is absolutly no point in hell to run a higher lift cam if your going to keep the stock springs!! idc what anyone says thats flat out retarted!!

run a small cam and leave the springs....run a bigger 272 do springs and rev it out....you will loose power if you run a bigger 272 and not be able to rev it out.

just do the S1's if your not doing springs.

Are teh GSC beehives without retainers OK for the S2? Or do you need the kit with the retainers?
