i would like to know also

i just bought the springs and i didnt think i needed the retainers but then i wanted to get them but didnt realize that the retainer cost $190, i should have just got them as a combo deal i would have saved $100

so do i need to spend the extra money and get retainers?? what do you guys think

I don't believe the factory retainers will fit.

Of course they fit. The springs are beehive style and are a factory replacement and will the stock OEM retainer and Valve Seat. From what I have gather I believe with the stock retainer you can rev to 9K. For higher RPM you need the retainers.
