so far it's just been tuned for an air filter...tonight we're going to re-tune it for the air filter + mbc at 25-26psi. I suspect the stock exhaust is going to hold it back quite a bit. Maybe this weekend we'll re-tune it again for the filter, mbc and exhaust for comparison.

I talked to Chris about this last week, and I think this will be an interesting thread. Seeing just how each of the common mods starting with basic bolt ons affects the output of the car. How much does a tune change things at each step of the way?

To the poster above, the point of this thread is not the same as 9sec9's. Go as fast as possible doing as little as possible to the car. I commend their effort, but apples and oranges.

Congrats on the car, looks great and I'm sure you'll make great power with it.

congrats Kevin, you picked a great platform and an awesome tuner! hey Kevin i have a Mivec map that i've been using as a replacement for cams at the moment. if you are interested i can send it to you and you can try it out. i have been playing around with the new map and fuel and stuff and i uped the boost to ~25psi. i have to send Mellon a log to see if power has changed if he doesnt mind. it is an aggressive mivec map but it feels stronger! plus i would love to see your results with it along side mellon's tune

Update: Last night 6-24-09 Mellon and I went back out for another tune. Notice the mods are Filter, EBC, and a Mellon Tune. We tried to shoot for 26 psi but the stock exhaust wasn't havin it. It was real inconsistent so we set it to 25 psi and what a difference, very consistent with little to no knock. I have to give it up to Mellon for tuning it on the nb02. Here is the improvement over the previous tune:

It gained 24hp and 54ft lbs of tq.

Of course we did another g-tech run:

60' 1.913
0-60 4.35
1/8 8.30 @ 85.62
1/4 12.99 @ 105.41

Already in the 12's with 3 mods. The stock clutch already isn't happy lol I know it could have been quicker with a better launch.

Here is the improvement over stock:

So far the gain over stock is:

39 hp and 65 ft lbs of tq

Next round of mods will be a BR 3" Turbo-back exhaust w/ a test pipe and bullet muffler, and a wb02. This should be installed and re-tuned Saturday. More info to come soon!

Kevin, go ahead and be figuring out what kind of clutch you are going to buy. Upping the HP and driving it hard (to benchmark the results) are going to eliminate the stock clutch very soon......

Good thread, keep it coming.

Thanks man. I talked to Mellon about this and he said there probably is a little bit of improvement that could be made to his Mivec map but it seems to be working well with most cars. If we decide to mess with the car for the heck of it we could throw your map in there to see the difference so we'll be in touch with ya if we decide to try it.
