Lean, Low Idle.

Just a quick question.

Built Evo IX with Cosworth cams, has a great lopey idle, and sounds fantastic sitting at a set of lights.

Question: My idle will go from smooth @1000rpm, to a very lopey 800rpm, and my AFR's on the Zeitronix go from 14.7-15.2 straight through the 16's-17's-18's+

Does this do any damage, or can I continue to enjoy the car sounding like a muscle car at a set of lights?

ZB.

the idle boundes like mad. 500, the up to 1700, then back.. same off the wall afr reads (touringbubble can comment, he spent 30 days trying to fix this). or sometimes steady at 1100, sounds like loeb's xsara....

Yeah it's bat-****-crazy sitting for any amount of time it has a mind of it's own

I don't mind it, I just want to make sure there is no damage done by a very low idle (bad oil pressure worries ... lack of knowledge here) or a lean idle (15-16-17-18+ at times when bouncing around)

I was having serious idle issues with cossies and the ETS intake pipe. I messed with the car for weeks trying to fix the problem, and discovered it to be the intake pipe itself. If you put the stock tube on the car with the k&n filter, I would bet it will idle much better. Give it a shot for testing sake.
On a side note, I received ETS's ver 2 intake which adds an addition of 2 very mild bends in the intake pipe. 1 via the pipe, and 1 via a 45 degree coupler. When I put this on my car, without touching the tune it idled perfectly!

No way? That could be exactly what it is ... running the exact same setup over here.

I'll give it a shot! I was considering the Perrin intake among others anyway, and I'll see if it makes a difference. I'll let you know if I experience the same luck.

Cheers!

Yeah...I am 100% you are going to idle perfectly with that stock tube on there. After calling around like mad...I found out AMS didn't even make an intake for the IX (unless you bought a turbo kit) for a reason. But yeah, the Ver2 intake basically removed the MAF sensor from being in direct line with the turbo inlet (turbulence of air) and fixed my prob. Good luck. I'm anxious to hear if this fixes yours too!

You can rich mixture at idle by changing the Zeitronix Zt-2 narrowband switching point.
