ACT clutch kits..

I recently had to have my ACT clutch kit replaced, and the shop told me that they feel that the cause was an inadequate TOB. they told me the TOB that came in that kit was simply not cutting it. Now i definitely installed the kit correctly, but after about 6-8k miles my trany went to **** and needed a rebuild. so bad that there was a 1/2" hole in my tranny case.

So anyway...when they took apart my shrapnel-battered clutch kit, they felt that the cause was an inadequate TOB.

anyone else have issues like this with an ACT kit?

My clutch just went out this past weekend. I havent taken it apart yet to find out the issue but my act clutch only had roughly 5k miles on it. I might be able to find this weekend what happened when i get the car back to where i am. Right now its about 75 miles north of me.

if you do a search, you will read bad things about act clutch kits. they will give you headaches if you dont get it installed properly.

I think that's where I went wrong. I used the TOB that came with the kit.

I had mine ACT clutch for over 20,000 miles. It's still holding strong. I used everything in the clutch kit.

^i had the xtss w/ street disc. Which kit did you have?

its crazy because a good amount of people have had issues with their ACT kits, while others claim to have not. and i dont think its a matter of installed correctly/not installed correctly either.

I think its a matter of good batch/bad batch.

seems that way to me at least.
