Does a tubro back raise boost?

I am going to get either a turbo back or a cat back, I am kind of leaning towards the turbo back but Ive heard that it raises boost is this true? Ive heard its something like 21 or 22psi so that worries me with warrenty.

With the 3" RMR DP and cat-back (stock cat), it raised to 20.5 psi...

I had just a catback until yesterday. I installed a downpipe and a cat delete pipe last night. I had the greddy EBC set to 19psi with my old setup(just the catback). After I installed the new pluming I took it for a test drive. The boost went to 22psi and held with the same settings I had for 19psi. I had to readjust the settings down on the EBC. The turbo spools much more freely with a 3'' downpipe and 3"catdelete. I think these two post should answer your question.

one question, will just a cat back raise the boost pressure? or only turbo back exhausts do this?

Just because my car went to 22psi does not mean your car will have the same psi. The psi vary from the factory. I have seen most people run 19 to 20. My EBC has two settings. I run 12.5 around town and 19.5 when it is time to get it on. The main reason for a boost control is for boost consistancy and you dial in what you want for psi.

If you don't have a boost gauge, get one.

If you get a EBC(electronic boost controll), most have a gauge built in to the digital readout. So a gauge purchase sometimes is not needed.

I would not run 22psi if I were you.

Do some searches on boost controllers and find out all the benifits to them.

If power is what you want, a boost controller will do A WHOLE BUNCH MORE than a turbo back exhaust.

I am sorry I can not answer this for you with fact. I put the boost controll and the catback on the same day. My gauge is in the boost controller, so I had no refference before that install. Sorry.

My guess would be yes. I would not think that much.

I can answer this.. I had a manual boost controller, but I recently hooked up the stock solenoid again (I have the Buschur Turbo back exhaust WITH their 3" Catalytic converter)

My boost is now 21psi, in most cases it drops to 18.5 or 19.5psi when the solenoid opens..

The car actually runs alot better than when I had the MBC installed..

Not everyone will get the same results, however since the stock solenoid is calibrated using a brass pill with a hole in the middle in one of the lines.. Its calibrated to the stock exhaust system, since restrictions in the exhaust will affect how easily the turbo spools, and how quickly, removing the restrictions in the exhaust will certainly raise boost a little..

Now I realize why there are such dramatic gains on these cars when one just does an exhaust system with no other modifications, your basically allowing the car to breathe better along with raising boost a bit.. Now you add basic fuel tuning to the mix and you have an amazing combo..

I also realized that boost spiking also happens even with the stock solenoid, only its not obvious with the stock exhaust since the restrictions in the exhaust system keeps the compressor from spooling and spiking.. Again, removing the restriction created a bit more spiking..

Just a bit of info, and some FYI's..

i have a rmr turboback with perrin cat-delete,i dont have any boost gauge or ebc so i dont know how much boost im running but when im driving regularly i try to keep the rpm low probably 3500 or lower since with the turboback the turbo spools kinda quicker.

To answer your question. I am running just the 3" turbo back exhaust with 3" high flow cat and the SAFC. I have all of my other parts sitting in the garage; still waiting for my BR intake so I can install everything under the hood all at once. With the two mods that I have I notice a huge jump in power between 2,800 and 5,000 rpm. My guess is the boost must spike in this range. After 5,000 rpm it dies off just like before. I think its running to rich. If I stay under 5 its fine, but when I go over I get black crap all over the back of my car and exhaust tip. I will let you know where my boost is at when I install my guage. Oh yeh and from just those 2 mods installed there is a huge HP gain. You dont need a good butt dyno to feel it.
