Shifter sticks to the left?!

I just got a new clutch installed (ACT-HDTTP) and when in neutral, moving the shifter to the left, the shifter will just stay there instead of going back to the middle automatically. (when the car is off or on) . The car still drives, but 1st and 2nd requires a little more precise shifting and effort. This doesnt happen when moving it to the right, as it moves right back to the middle as it normally should. What could this be? Has this ever happened to anyone?

Thanks for all input!

Lubricate your under-hood shifter cable bushings.

Definately lubricate or change the under hood shifter bushings. I thought I had a big problem, shifter would stick in neutral and would pop out of 3rd and 5th gear while cruising. I figured before anything let me try the simplest stuff first before ripping my trans out. Changed the bushings and all my problems went away and have stayed liked that for over 2 months now.

well i think we found out the problem. my battery was leaking before i removed the clutch and say acid on the top of the tranny and some on the brass lever that is on top of the tranny. That part was corroding which somehow was causing the shifter to stick. Just ordered the parts and mitsu should have it here in about 2 days. Hopefully this solves the problem. If not, then i really have no idea what it could be

i've got kinda a similar problem. sometimes in 1st it'll pop the clutch out at high revs and going into some gears, especially effin reverse, it has trouble. like i've gotta move it past a wall, soemtimes i gotta let the clutch out in neutral first and then go into the gear to get it to move. i've been looking into getting some shifter bushings and a front lower motor mount, will these help at all?

^^^^ I would have a hard time getting it into first I'd have to try like 3 times sometimes. Has been smooth getting into first ever since the bushing change. I got the AMS bushing kit and used white lithium grease to lube it.

Did anyone figure this out? I am having this exact same issue. Its not the bushings, because I replaced them with metal bushings and lubricated the posts. I am having this problem whether I move the shifter to the left or right, its sticks, meaning it doesn't return to the center automatically.

Thanks,

If the bushings are lubricated, then it's possible the grease on the shifter itself need a little help. I bought a used shifter assembly and had the same exact problem until I cleaned out the shifter assembly's old grease and used some new stuff.

Thanks, where exactly on the shifter does the grease go?

When you disassemble it you should be able to tell. Mainly on the "ball" area, and where the cables connect.
