Hey,
On my 05 evo when I'm in 1st on decel it whines really bad, it only does this in first. The car is under warranty so I took it into a dealer and they said it was the clutch and wanted 1500 to fix it. I work at a gm garage and have a pretty decent auto background and I am about 99% sure that it isn't the clutch cause it never changes weither I have it pushed in or not. Anyone run into anything like this before? It's the 5 speed btw. thanks

Normal man. My evo has whined in first it's whole life. Accel and Decel. It's first gear in the trans im sure of it. If it makes you fell any better my car has 118k on her

Search First gear whine.

Its when it starts whining going down the road at speed you got to worry. That a sign your TC is toast

yea i also have an 05 and my car whines in first. ive always wondered what that was? what do you have done to you evo?

not too much just cam gears, turbo back exhaust, and maybe a ecm mod (not sure bought it like this) but i don't think the past owner has done anything, it only has 42000 on it and i just made an appointment to get it checked out as well as my turbo leaking oil into my intercooler piping

all the 5 speed evos do that in 1st bro dnt worry bout it at my shop we do tons of evo clutchs and all kinds of stuff and every evo that has ever came in with a 5speed does that

do you have a test pipe on your turbo back exhaust? If so which one and how do you like it? im trying to decide on which one to get?

I really don't know what kind it is i bought the car with all this stuff on it the only thing i put on it was an hks ssqv bov and a new gauge cluster kit but the car is insane it's running about 20 lbs of boost and it's quick as hell but I've never driven another one so I can't say how it runs compared to you know
