Thinking of upping my boost on stock turbo.
Ok guys, before everyone tells me to search, im look for advise that goes exactly to my car and was finding to general of answers.
So here in a month im going to Works for another reflash and to have them up my boost. Im currently at 20-21psi and tapers to 19psi all the way to redline. I was thinking of having it turned up to 24psi, im looking for some more top end power. I was wonder if you guys think this is a good boost level, or whether i should go up or down. This is my daily driver, but i also autocross once a month and drag race everyother weekend at the local free drags.
Im currently running:
Stock 8 turbo
Works P2 pill/reflash system
PPI ported exhaust manifold
Works TBE w/ HFC
Ralliart plug wires
BMC drop in filter (might switch to a full Perrin intake though)
Works Metal DV
Works Throttle body
Walbro fuel pump
I think thats about it
Thanks for the help guys!

I say go for a stiffer WG so you can hold more boost(if you want to stick w/ the evo 8). Honestly I would say upgrade to at leat an 8.5 or evo 9 turbo. Something that would breathe a lot better.
In the end it comes down to the tuner. If they are getting major knock then its not giong to happen. You can upgrade to a bigger FMIC, that can keep some knock down. Then again you have to deal w/ the physical limitations of the evo 8 turbo.
Another viable option would be e85. You do live in cali and you don't have to worry about cold weather starts. A buddy of mine has an evo viii w/ cams and a evo9 turbo and is running e85. He can hit 11's w/ street tires LOL.

The issue is your 91 octane gas, not your turbo. So, to improve your fuel the choices are basically: E85, race gas, or meth kit.
BTW, on 91 oct I gained 15whp by upgrading to the IX turbo. At the time, I was sorry I made the swap. However, since moving to E85, I'm happy again.
To run 24 psi on 91 oct, you may end up having to run negative timing at peak torque. Some tuners will say that is a bad idea. I'd suggest you shoot for a good solid 91 tune at 22psi. That should be doable.
