It's just his pet name for a short intake, rather than a long or CAI (cold air intake).

Noize, warm air intake? wtf good would that do?
I've seen that acronym several times on other boards. It is just a K&N filter attached to the MAF pipe.. Meaning not a true cold air unit that is relocated out of the engine bay like an AEM. The higher volume filter so close to the MAF will undoubtedly change the readings it sees. My question was to inquire how much. Eric L. gave me the answer I was looking for, because it is the most logical. Capiche?

Wow! This intake is louder than I ever imagined it could be. Not bad loud, though. Just evil hissing turbo loud. The butt dyno doesn't feel any gain, but we all know that butt dynos LIE.

On another note, I installed my boost gauge last night. I'm excited to install my boost controller now, because I'm hitting 18psi, but falling to 15 and 16 really fast. Hopefully setting it for a 19psi target will wake the car up even further!

You have to love that sound, it's like a giant vacuum cleaner sucking for all it's worth!

You didn't notice any smoother top-end? Go back to stock on the AFC and see what you notice, it's very nice.

If I go back to stock on the AFC, my car will be dog slow. The factory rich A:F is by far the most restrictive part of the stock car. Changing the filter and leaving the stock MAF pipe shouldn't mess up the A:F too much. I backed my most lean spots up to -11% to be safe. Very conservative until I get on the dyno.

My friend Jeff went out with me for lunch. He thinks the car feels faster. I think he's nuts and is just excited about the sound. Dang butt dynos. I guess I will have to race Chris again and find out. I can't wait to get that freaking test pipe. I'm doing that and the boost controller at the same time.
