So he has the exact same housing without an O2 dump? If he is referring "some kind of tube" it sounds like he might have an O2 dump from his housing?

He dont want to tell me how he made it..I know that the 02 housing is the normal one,not the one with the other tube to separate the WG gases

^he doesn't sound like much of a friend. Does he have a more open intake? Could it be it is just louder and that is what you are hearing?

sounds like a modded o2 housing to me. or a divorced down pipe( two pipes off the o2 housing. one for the exhaust and one for the waste gate) my brother had that on his wrx. he wound up changing it out for a bigger down pipe.

I have an open dump tube, actually two of them from my twin scroll GT4088. It's loud but sounds sick when full tilt. But then again also draws a lot of attention.

Personally I would not have a huge turbo kit any other way.

Guy definitely has a o2 dump. If you want the sound - get one plain and simple.

^^^ x2

I'm surprised how popular these have become...... I ran open dump on my GTi for ~2yrs.... I couldn't take it anymore, ear piercing loud when you were in a tunnel, or drove by a large wall/truck with the windows open..... of course this was back in the day when big aftermarket turbos weren't so popular....

I'd rather like to hear the SCREAM of a large turbo ... to each their own.

^ Agreed... coming from a DSM that had one I would never ever do it again. The don't really recover any power and they are way way way too loud. Law enforcement will be all up your **** if you exceed 14psi in town!

Also not a fan of O2 dumps and would also hear the turbo.

BTW OP - I suggested he might have a more open intake because an open intake allows you to hear quite a bit more and I of course won't know your experience by reading a single thread from you. I was throwing it out as a suggestion that you were maybe hearing something and were mistaking it.

My current DV (with a pretty open intake) makes interesting sounds when in vacuum when I hit the clutch that sometimes could be mistaken for a dump if you didn't know what to expect.
