Aem Intake Heat Shield Removing

Hey Guys,

I see a number of cars with no heatshield over there aftermarket intake. I have an AEM Intake and was wondering if it will hurt not having that heat shield on their. Let me know. Any advice would really help!

Why not keep it there? AEM is the only (i believe) intake right now with a heatshield with their intake. Only helps not hinders...

What is your logic for removing it? It sure seems like a benefit to me. Not only does it provide a mounting surface for the snorkel, but it acts as a shield from some of the heat from the nearby exhaust.

True! That is why I posted this thread to find out why some companies do it and some don't offer a heat shield!

nope. I found it easier just leaving it on the top. Haven't had a problem yet and I know many people as well.

That is what I thought. Does anyone know if RMR C.F. Hood Scoop clears the AEM Intake?

Hey guys, I also have the aem intake. It is somewhat a ***** to install, but well worth the effort. i think the heatshield in the aem system is inadaquate. Im talkin to a friend and he can hook me up with a custom heatshield for the aem intake. I'll post some pics when I get it installed. late

Heatshield from AEM inadaquate? Hardly. Yes, maybe it can be improved upon, but for the money and what you get, it really can't be beat. I believe most other intakes out there cost about the same, but come with 1/2 the R&D, Perfromance and Parts.

AEM is the way I'm going... that is untill, the Injen unit comes out...

Do I smell a VTA BOV pipe???
